It depicts episodes in Brazil's history: the arrival of the Portuguese, Anchieta writing in the sand and independence. The scene are depicted against irregular colored areas, creating amoeboid forms. On the left, three ships with the Maltese Cross. To the right of center, Anchieta figure writing in the sand, and the on the right-most group of human figures merely suggested.
