Composition in ochre, white, green, and red earthy. Smooth texture. Portrait man head, and smooth against dark background, occupying almost the entire area of the composition. The pictured 3/4 is facing right, has the slicked-back hair, broad forehead and sharp on the right ear, eyebrows and eyes mingling with the dark area but it is clear that the person is looking to the right. Nose not too long and wide, well-defined mouth closed corners with commas suggest that up and chin slightly prominent. Sees the start of the collar and jacket. Smooth and dark background. The picture has an even academic technical treatment where it is noted that the light falling from the right side of his face was clumsily rolled (see clearer area on the forehead, nose and chin).
