"...I am going to rest a little and then get down to work. I cannot live either without working or working too much. I could have stayed in the United States longer if I wanted. But I missed Brazil a lot. Six months is the longest I can live far from my country. ..." (*)

"... - It is an admirable country. We can only have an idea of its greatness going there. In the United States everything is grandiose, everything is extraordinary. In this second visit of mine, which has been longer than the first, I could come into a more intimate contact with the United States. I felt their greatness. I made great friends like Nelson Rockfeller, Archibald MacLeish, Charles Thompson, who are formidable men. The Americans are a strong, great, good people, who can take seriously the life of men and the work of artists. ..." (*)
